Budget Proposal Would Add $500 Million To Support Treatments for Substance Use Disorders

The new federal budget proposed last week by the White House would slash the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) by $15 billion, while adding $500 million to support treatments for substance use disorders. The budget would also slash $6 billion from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), all to offset a proposed $54 billion increase in defense spending.
