Buprenorphine Could Have Better Treatment Outcomes for Infants with NAS

The New England Journal of Medicine has published a study reporting that buprenorphine could potentially have better treatment outcomes for infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), than traditionally used oral morphine. The researchers found that buprenorphine decreased the length in treatment by 42 percent and emphasized that buprenorphine may help reduce the burden associated with lengthy treatment and hospitalization.
