DEA Seeks Prosecutors To Target Drug Offenders, Advocacy Groups Concerned

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has proposed hiring as many as 20 prosecutors to bring cases related to drug trafficking, money laundering, and asset forfeiture – a move that worries some advocacy groups. Groups have warned that this action could exceed the DEA’s legal authority because the prosecutorial arm of the Justice Department cannot be funded through the drug diversion registration program without input from Capitol Hill.
