FDA’s Targets Illicit Opioids Entering U.S. Through Mail

FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb announced that the agency will deploy three dozen employees to international mail facilities run by the U.S. Postal Service to detect and analyze suspicious packages that may contain fentanyl and other black-market opioids entering the country. This announcement comes after Governor Chris Christie called on the Trump administration last week to boost staffing to reduce the flow of illicit opioids through the mail. Read more here.
