HIV Cases in Kentucky Increase as a Result of Illicit Substance Use

According to new data, the number of HIV cases is northern Kentucky rose by 48 percent between 2016 and 2017. Nearly half of the individuals contracted the disease by sharing syringes used to inject illicit substances, such as heroin. This rise in HIV cases highlights the need for improved access to substance use treatment. Read more here.
