Insured Consumer Access Network (ICAN) To Provide Patient Assistance for Substance Use Disorder Treatment
To provide scholarships to insured patients for out-of-pocket costs related to addiction treatment, Michael C. Barnes, Executive Director of the Center for Lawful Access and Abuse Deterrence (CLAAD), is set to launch the not-for-profit Insured Consumer Access Network (ICAN). ICAN is a patient assistance program for individuals in financial difficulty who seek treatment for substance use disorders. ICAN will hold its network of providers to high ethical standards to ensure that scholarship recipients receive quality care. ICAN hopes to help patients access treatment by the third quarter of 2016 and will begin collecting donations in the coming weeks.
