Survey: Prescribing Fewer Opioids Negatively Impact Individuals with Persistent Pain

A recent survey conducted by the Boston Globe shows that more than 50 percent of physicians across the U.S. are prescribing fewer opioids for pain and opioid use disorder, and nearly 1 in 10 physicians have stopped prescribing opioids altogether. However, even as physicians retreat from opioids, some seem to have misgivings: More than one-third of the respondents said the reduction in prescribing has hurt individuals with persistent pain.
